Cosmetic Sample Bag

Materials:
Bulky yarn A (Wonderwool Schoeller 51% virgin wool, 149% acrylic) 50 grs skein – 1 gray
Bulky yarn B(Flting Bernat, 100% wool) 75 grs skein – 1 English rose
Circular needles 4.5mm

Pattern Note: The bag is made up of several squares in different patterns and sew them together.

Base:
Cast on 15st and knit 66 rows. Bind off.

Square 1: Using Yarn A
Cast on 20 st. work 4 times the Mock cable pattern. (see pattern bellow). Bind off.

Square 2: Using Yarn A
Cast on 20 st. work 2 times the 8 stitch cable pattern. (see pattern bellow). Bind off.

Square 3: Using Yarn A
Cast on 21 st. work 1 time the Horseshoe lace pattern. (see pattern bellow). Bind off.

Square 4: Using Yarn B
Cast on 20 st. work 24 rows in stockinettte stitch (knit one row, purl one row). Bind off.

Side 1: Using Yarn A
Cast on 16 st. work 1 time the Oxo cable pattern. (see pattern bellow). Bind off.

Side 2: Using Yarn A
Cast on 16 st. work 1 time the X cable pattern. (see pattern bellow). Bind off.

Finishing:
Sew squares 1 & 2 followed by side 1, then square 3 & 4 and finally side 2. Now sew all this to the base, not sewing yet the border of square1 and side 2.

Pick up 10 st from sq 1, 10 st from sq 2, 8 st from sd 2, 10 st from sq 3, 10 st from sq 4 and 8 st from sd 2. Totel 56 st.
With yarn A knit in stockinettte st 7 rows.
Change to yarn B and purl next row.

Next row make a button hold as follows:
ü Work the row up to the point where the buttonhole will begin. Bring the yarn to the front of the work. Slip one stitch from the left needle to the right and then return the yarn to the back of the work and leave it there.
ü Slip another stitch from the left needle to the right. Pass the first slipped stitch over it -- one buttonhole stitch bound off. Repeat, slipping stitches from the left needle to the right and binding off previously slipped stitches, 5 times . Slip remaining buttonhole stitch back to left needle.
ü Turn your work. The yarn should be at the beginning of the left needle; bring it to the back. Using a cable cast-on, cast on 6 st.
ü Turn your work and keep the yarn to the back. Slip the first stitch from left needle to right and pass extra cast-on stitch over it. Resume working across the row.
Continue is stockinette stitch for another 4 rows.
Knit next 4 rows. Bind off.

Sew the open sides together. Sew a button.

Mock cable pattern:
Row 1 *P4, k1, p1, k4; rep from * to end
Row 2 *P3, k2, p2, k3; rep from * to end
Row 3 *P2, k2, p1, k1, p2, k2; rep from * to end
Row 4 *P1 (k2,p2) twice, k1; rep from * to end
Row 5 *K2, p3, k3, p2; rep from * to end
Row 6 *K1, p4, k4, p1; rep from * to end
Repeat these 6 rows.

8 cable stitch pattern: Panel of 8 sts on reverse stockinettte.
Row 1, 3, 5 and 7 (RS) K 8
Row 2 and every WS row P8
Row 9 C8F– sl 4 sts on to cable needle a front, k4, k4 from the cable needle.
Row 10 P8
Repeat these 10 rows

Horseshoe lace pattern:
Row 1 K1 *yo, k3, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k3, yo, k1; rep from * to end
Row 2 Purl
Row 3 P1 *k1, yo, k2, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k2, yo, k1, p1; rep from * to end
Row 4 K1 *p9, k1; rep from * to end
Row 5 P1 *k2, yo, k1, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k1, yo, k2, p1; rep from * to end
Row 6 as row 4
Row 7 P1 *k3, yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo, k3, p1; rep from * to end
Row 8 Purl
Repeat these 8 rows.

Oxo cable pattern: Panel of 8 sts on reverse stockinettte.
C4F- sl 2 sts on to the cable needle at front, k2, k2 from cable needles
C4B- sl 2 sts on to the cable needle at back, k2, k2 from cable needles

Row 1 K8
Row 2 P8
Row 3 C4B, C4F
Row 4 P8
Row 5 to 8 As rows 1 to 4
Row 9 K8
Row 10 P8
Row 11 C4F, C4B
Row 12 P8
Rows 13 to 16 As row 9 to 12
Repeat these 16 rows.

X cable pattern: Panel of 8 sts on reverse stockinettte.
C4F- sl 2 sts on to the cable needle at front, k2, k2 from cable needles
C4B- sl 2 sts on to the cable needle at back, k2, k2 from cable needles
